Man on the edge Please need I,m trying to installing a 2nd hrd/drv in my Dell XPS GEN-2?

existing HRD/DRV is a SATA uses ATA cable to conn.to M/BRD.My new HRD/DRV uses IDE ribbon type ,My CD/DVD is conn. to M/BRD in conn.marked Secondary-driveconnector(SEC-IDE). the connt.below that is marked — Hard-drive connecter (PRI-IDE) and is not used. Can I conn. my new HRD/RDV to this conn. on the M/B,directly with IDE cable connt. and what should I do with the” capacity-limiting jumper”,there both installed in them already so should I leave, remove ,buy a vowel ,choose door # 2 ,spin the wheel.Seriously I,m really confused and could use help very much. If your sata drive clj is allready installed leave the ata installed. If you want to install two operating systems then set ata dr to master and install on pri ide at end of cable. if you want it for storage then set it to slave position at the middle of the cable on the secondary ide If your cd/dvd is on the secondary ide move it to primary ide and set jumpers to slave and install on middle of cable No one will recommend two operating systems on the computer as they can become trouble some. But its done all the time. I do not recommend having two interfaces Ide/ Sata & master slave with just two drives communication and compatablity issues may arise from nowhere and at any time If you cant exchange the ata for serial ata then trying this configuration is your possible chance of success After you install it partition and format it as a storage drive with the same file system thats on your sata drive( fat 32 or ntfs) I allways flip coins odds are 50 -50
