Can I change my motherboard and chipset without affecting my system?

My team used to be one of the best, but now its time for an update. How can I change my motherboard and the AMD chipset for Intel-branded computers equipment without affecting my system. as in. .. if I turn off the computer, change the motherboard and chipset, along with the release in some 8800Ultra, SLI connected, then connect all my hard drives and all, can I restart my computer and running, or I'll have to adjust the BIOS and reconfigure the launch?
