Is it okay to leave some of the old heat transfer compound on the processor at the time of installing a new heatsink?
I just buy a new CPU cooler from my desk for up to graduate and CPU cooler could not continue to age more. that was running at 80 C and I bought a new CPU cooler from Thermaltake TR2-R1. When I removed the old heatsink the CPU tried to clean as best I could with a soft cloth and have the most off, but still had a thin film left on the CPU. I installed the new cooler that had already composed the transfer of heat in it. The new cooler now runs at 34c, but could have gotten it to run cooler I had removed the rest of the compounds of age or am I just paranoid? to be honest the new cooler is much quieter than the previous races and the fan seems to be working at low RPM
You're being paranoid. 34C okay. If something is _low_. That's not bad, but it is a sign that your cooling system is working harder (and make more noise) than it really needs. The only time you have to worry about is whether age composite had hardened into a large block at the top of the chip. Since this is not the case that worry for nothing.
