Help USB to serial adapter?

if your view using the PC to let go Windows Update site and seize it in XP to try to find a newer version of it in the manufacturer's Web site. I have used these types of adapters and have had good luck, but a database intensive reading something like a modem, given in these external devices, i PCI card works perfectly, if possible.
