Where is the IEEE 1394 port on a Dell Dimension 3000?
I'm usually very good with computers. I'm trying to put it on my DV tapes my computer, but i cannot find the port you need anywhere on the computer tower. I looked in the back as well. Or I have to buy IEEE 1394 port for separately?
You do not have a need to purchase one separately.

This article discusses the protocols of the campus is in almost all enterprise networks today as spanning tree protocol, Ethernet and Gigabit fiber optic with a description of the current specifications and process.
Spanning Tree Protocol
Spanning Tree is an algorithm that works in layer 2 switches campus for the prevention of Layer 2 loops and broadcast storms in a network with at least 2 switches or bridges. The algorithm determines which ports on each switch or bridge should be blocked to create a loop free topology. Primary IEEE 802.1d. The spanning tree port state is listening, learning, blocking, forwarding and disabled. Each group of switches elect a root bridge as part of determining which switch ports should be blocked by a loop free topology. The root bridge is selected by default as the switch with the lowest priority (MAC address). Bridge Selection the root may be changed with the bridge priority command. It is important to consider the design of its campus and changed if necessary modify the root bridge selection for performance.
Newer switches using VLAN's run an instance of spanning tree per VLAN. This is important to note from layer 2 loops produced by VLAN or segment. This allows a switch with two connections to the same switch or different switches to balance load across links without the concern to create a media storm. This is accomplished by assigning two VLAN to a switch that has links to two core switches campuses. Each link is configured to forward traffic from a VLAN and block on the second link. For example, consider a switch 24 ports assigned to VLAN 10 and 24 ports to VLAN 20 and supervisor engine with 2 Gigabit ports that connect to different core switches. VLAN 10 is assigned to a VLAN and port 20 to port B. If traffic from VLAN 10 were allowed at port B, so there would be a loop from the traffic would leave port and return port B if there is a connection trunk between the switches central campus.
Ethernet
This is the most popular campus protocol data link running at present. Specifications Today's Top are 10BaseT, 100BaseT, and Gigabit Ethernet. Many networks today are composed of 10BaseT and 100BaseT from the desktop and the server to switch schools. Gigabit Ethernet is used to change and switch from building to building. 10BaseT is a specification for 10 Mbps on unshielded twisted pair category 3 cable (UTP). The distance from the desktop to switch is 100 meters or less. 100BaseT specification is the same except the speed is 100 Mbps over unshielded twisted UTP) category 5 pairs of cable. Gigabit is a specification for 1000 Mbps over fiber, STP and UTP cabling. Ethernet uses CSMA / CD as a method of dealing with collisions, when two desktop computers are sending data simultaneously. Workstations wait for a specified period of time and different before attempting re-transmission. The maximum packet size or MTU of an Ethernet packet is 1518 bytes.
Fiber Optic Technologies
Gigabit Ethernet uses Multi-Mode Fiber (MMF) and single mode fiber (SMF) for data transmission. Single Mode Fiber uses only one mode of light traveling through the filament fiber using a laser as a source of light. Multimode allows multiple modes of light to travel through the fiber network at different angles using an LED light source. Modal dispersion the results of the various modes of light transmitted through a fiber strand. The result is that the single mode fiber is higher bandwidth and transmitted over long distances. Multi-mode fiber is compatible with 62.5 micron and 50 micron diameter fibers. The 50-Micron Fiber transportation across longer distances that fiber 62.5 micron. Multi Mode fiber laser using shortwave (SX) and long wavelength laser (LX) for Gigabit transmission. Single mode fiber is supported with a diameter 9 micron core fiber.
