How can I connect a card broadband WAN access to a laptop without a PCMCIA slot?

I have a X1 ultraportable laptop. Has a USB port and Compact Flash, but no PC Card slot. I want to add WAN service therefore need a way to connect a broadband card, ideally without to add a lot of weight. Any simple solution appreciated.

I work for laptop (notebook) support for HP and the only other way to do this is maybe try USB
