Mini, the evolution of a driving legend

The Mini has been a style icon, even after their original creation in 1959. The combination a cute and quirky little car that was not only great around town, is owned and operated by the rich and famous but was also one of the most easily accessible to vehicles for the average person in the street on both buy and maintain, this icon driven the car in one of the British-made cars most popular in history.

From the time of the groundbreaking first 850cc Morris Mini Minor rolled off the production line on 26 August 1959, designed Sir Alec Issigonis Mini "was destined for a great future.

The original Mini was produced as 1959 Issigonis was challenged by the British Motor Company (BMC) to design a car to respond to the problems of European energy crisis caused by the nationalization of the Suez Canal. Although German aircraft designers as Messerschmitt, Heinkel, Isetta and came up with small cars in response bubble, BMC chief wanted a new car that would be small in just four meters wide by three feet long and four meters high but that could seat four adults comfortably and carry your luggage without any problems.

The revolutionary engine and transmission design allowed the creation of a car that not only outside compact but made maximum use of available interior space. With great stability generated by the front wheel drive and wheel at each corner arrangement, and the front grille and headlamp design that created a look brazen face, called car both fans of the hard drive and the general population.

The creation of the Mini Cooper in 1961, which lead to three wins in Rally Monte Carlo, between 1964 and 1967, driven by the likes of Paddy Hopkirk great, and a series of triumphs Racing pedigree showed real engine of the Mini. While the last couple of cars with the name of Mini and the latest version of the Italian job may not be able to evoke all the awakening of the same emotion that made its predecessors, it is undeniable that BMW have achieved avoid most of the reaction may bring a classic remake.
