Random access memory (commonly known as RAM, or simply as memory) is writable and readable data storage used in the computers and other electronic instruments. It is integrated circuits that allow the stored data quickly and randomly and without access to any movement physical storage medium or the read head in a constant trme. It connects via a socket mother Integration. Most types of RAM lose your data when the computer is down. Computers use RAM to hold program code and data during the calculation. RAM is also known as "memory principal or primary storage. Fewer static random access memory is also integrated with the CPU, but this is usually known as "cache" memory instead of RAM.
The word "random" refers to the fact that any piece of information can be accessed at random, quickly, and in constant time, regardless of their physical location and whether or not related to the previous piece of data. Access is not serial or sequential access memory, as CD-ROM or tape etc. megnatic
There are several types of memoryTypes:
SDRAM (synchronous dynamic access memory random) which is a type of memory solid state equipment.
DDR SDRAM double data rate synchronous dynamic random access memory is a kind of memory. Indeed, nearly double the rate transfer, without increasing the frontside bus frequency. Thus a 100 MHz DDR system has an effective clock rate of 200 MHz compared with the equivalent of SDR SDRAM.
Direct RDRAM or Rambus DRAM DRDRAM DRDRAM (sometimes called Rambus DRAM or RDRAM) is a type of synchronous dynamic RAM, designed by Rambus Corporation.
DDR2 SDRAM or double data rate two synchronous dynamic random access memory technology is random access memory used for storing high-speed of the working data of a computer or other digital electronic device. Its main advantage is the ability to run its bus at twice the speed of the memory cells it contains, enabling faster bus speeds and higher peak flows to earlier technologies. This is achieved at the expense of increased latency.
DDR3 RAM Double-data-rate three synchronous dynamic random access memory is the name of the new DDR memory standard that has been developed. Reducing energy consumption is 40% compared to current commercial DDR2 modules, due to the manufacturing technology of 90 nm DDR3, using "dual-gate transistors" to reduce leakage current. DDR3 Prefetch Buffer width is 8 bit, whereas DDR2 is 4 bits, and DDR is 2 bits. Theoretically, these modules can be transferred clockrate data to the 800-1600MHz effective to date, such bandwidth requirements have been mainly in the graphics market in a rapid transfer of information between framebuffers necessary. Though the DDR3 specification will be available mid 2007. Supposedly, Intel has preliminarily announced they expect to be able to offer support for him in mid-2007 with a version of its upcoming Bearlake chipset. AMD's roadmap indicates their own adoption of DDR3 to come in 2008.
The main Manufacturers: Micron Technology Mushkin Samsung Kingston Technology Corsair Memory Technologies and Rambus.
The average computer, from 2006, can store up 2 gigabytes of RAM, which is generally considered more than sufficient to maintain both intensive multi-tasking and large graphic applications.
Measuring Capacity:
The most common measurements of the capacity of RAM 210 (1024) or kilo bits, bytes or words of binary memory, because 1024 is about 1,000. Similarly, mega and giga are used to represent 220 and 230, respectively. Thus, a megabyte of RAM is almost always 1,048,576 bytes, not a million. In 1999, new prefixes, Kibi, gibi mebi and were introduced unambiguously represent binary numbers, that has yet to catch up.
Several types of RAM are stable development using carbon nanotubes and magnetic tunneling technologies. The data are stored in these RAM while being closed. These we see in the form of flash memory (pen drives). These capabilities now exceed 150 GB, with speeds much higher than traditional RAM. This development is spot among the traditional definition of random access memory and disks, and drastically reduce performance diffrence.
