Your laptop is exhausted and can not understand why, because it's plugged in The first thing you should look for is status LEDs. The brick transformer or an adapter AC usually has a status LED on it to show it is plugged into a wall of sound and is functioning. If the power adapter laptop LED is not lit and the cable is firmly seated in the transformer and the wall socket, then the AC adapter is probably bad. But the solution of problems more power has a little more effort. Fortunately, it is also common for the failure to be the power cord itself, as I noted with some models Toshiba. Many HP and Compaq models use "L" connectors that are less prone to failure, and Sony and Dell cables looks more solid as well, but is always a possibility. It seems I have been "L" connectors adapter Dell MK911 ac too.
If the status LEDs blink in a laptop when you move the power cord or if they can keep if the position of the spinal just right, the failure is either the cord or the power connector inside the laptop. Of the two, you want the problem is the cable supply, because it is much easier to fix. A cord can be seen perfectly good (see above), but has broken, usually as a result of letting it hang from the back of the laptop when you work on your lap. The cable length from Dell MK911 AC adapter to the laptop is protected coaxial cable with inner conductor attached to the inside of the connector barrel and the outside that acts as ground. Many of the power cables also include a large choke, probably one of ferrite, which I guess is to avoid RF interference generated by filtering the laptop back on the wire and the length of inflection between the laptop and power adapter into an antenna. Frankly, I cut them to compensation if they are too close to the barrel connector. Nice to have reasonable for a wire stripper that can strip the coaxial cable at once instead of worrying away the sheathing with a cheap tool. Want to take about an inch of the outer and then turn the shield braid together. Some technical and preload of the braid with solder before turning the power connector, but if there is a tab you can wrap it around first is not really necessary.
I prefer to buy new connectors to try again using the original for several reasons. First, the original AC adapter for laptop will have a molded in the connector, and the only way to get it off is to cut a little at a time with a knife. I've done it and done a repair when I was traveling and had no choice, but the driver twisted in my Dell laptop was soldered directly to the outside of barrel instead of having their own point of welding as a replacement connector. It is also very difficult to solder connectors without melting the insulation works unless it has a warm climate, fine-tipped iron. I get my replacement connectors at Radio Shack for a dollar or less, take the original to determine size. If you are working with the length of the cord still attached to the power adapter, make sure you slide the cover for the new connector on the wire and confronted the way right before the solder on the connector. The length of the barrel connector that fits in the portable body is somewhat flexible, too long to work short and you may be able to back-off a bit on the connector cover. Obviously, you do not want the two tabs to play or just shorts, so you can work a little bit of tape around one of the tabs, if you are paranoid, but leave the room to have the shell on. The shell is actually threaded, as is the connector, so they tend to hold together very well. Since this particular failure, it gave me so much pain the first time it happened, I always I travel with a spare final replacement power cord for my laptop. While my first replacement continues to maintain, if not, I can only undo the splice and spare belt in the final minutes. It is unfortunate that so many people buy a new laptop adapter or even crack open your laptop and start playing with the inner container, when the problem is the connector cord.
