How do I determine what type of socket of my motherboard is?
I am currently running a 2.2GHz AMD Athlon 64 Single Core. I thought the type of socket would be visible in the (ASUS) motherboard itself, but could not locate, even when I removed the processor and heatsink. I am looking to update my processor and the need to know my type of socket so you can get the best chip available. Thank you.

The laptop market has changed in recent months. That was mainly due to the introduction of the Asus Eee 'PC which alone creates the low cost mini-notebook market segment. Intel then released its Atom processor, a CPU designed specifically for such laptops. Now comes the MSI Wind U100, the first machine of many to come sporting this new processor.
In style, the wind carries away many of its key design of the Eee. The three-cell battery used in the pre-production prototype that we have in our hands is responsible for the battery a bit miserable 137 minutes life, but the final compilation of hope that come with a six unit cells until a fair blow. The larger battery also raises the weight to something less than 1.5 kg, but it still feels great in the hand and is certainly strong enough to carry around on a regular basis.
The use of 10-inch screen means it feels much more like a standard laptop is the Asus Eee PC or the HP 2133 Mini-Note PC. The keyboard is a good size also extends to use all of the frames, and not feel like you're compromising ease of use for a smaller form factor of all.
When it comes to performance, you'll find in the state of the art Intel Atom N270 processor that is the smallest mobile chip to date. As pre-production unit we were unable to establish benchmarks, but in daily use it seemed faster than the current options on the market. At first doubted the largest screen size would be less than ideal in the movement. Like the Asus Eee PC yet fits perfectly into the table you will find in the back of most airline seats.
The U100 is an impressive entry laptop level. I never once felt as if the commitments made, and at low cost and market portable, this is as good as receiving.
