Every electrical or electronic device, the energy requirements for the job and the team is no exception to this. Computers also have a component specially designed power supply known as Switch Mode Power Supply (SMPS). SMPS converts the raw input power voltage and current controlled to operate of various computer components. SMPS uses high efficiency switches. SMPS primary function is to convert alternating current (AC) available in households at current direct (DC) necessary for a computer system. In desktop computers, a metal box located on the corner where the CPU Supplies
power to the various components in the CPU box. The power supply converts 115-230 volt AC to DC, which is required for computer components to work.
The terms such as tension, AC, DC, etc., are closely related to the power supply or SMPS. The voltage is an electrical potential difference between two points and is measured in volts. AC means alternating current. This is an electrical installation
current, whose magnitude and direction vary cyclically. DC current is continuous. It is regarded as the steady flow of electrons in one direction from lower to higher potential. Computers use DC. Due to the advantage of alternating current into direct current continuous processing and transmission, electricity distribution is now almost everywhere alternating current.
The SMPS or source power of a team comes in different styles of form factor. The form factor refers to the physical dimensions of a component. The form factor power supply must match the form factor Computer Case that is inserted in the SMPS. Several factors are industry standard form available. Some of the form factors use their common characteristics are:
1. LPX
2. ATX
3. SFX
The LPX form factor power supply style has exactly the same motherboard and the connectors on the drive as the previous standard form factor power supply. LPX form factor power supply is different in Its small size allows much smaller building and consumer-oriented PCs. Due to its small size, which can be put into almost every type of boxes computers.
The ATX form factor is developed by Intel in 1995. ATX is similar to the LPX in physical dimensions. The difference is that the power pass through outlet for the monitor has been removed from ATX. Another difference is that in ATX, the fan is mounted along the inside of the power supply. With this type of arrangement, the fan draws air from the
rear of the chassis and beaten inside through the motherboard.
The SFX form factor style power supply is 100 mm wide, 125 mm deep, and 63.5 mm in height. Includes a 60 mm fan power supply for cooling. The connector motherboard main SFX is in the same shape and size as the ATX connector. The only difference here is that the SFX power supply specification is not compatible with the voltage of 5V-compatible and therefore should not be used with motherboards that have ISA slots.
