ASRock 775-Dual VSTA Mobo and X800XT PE AGP problem?

Hello. I just purchased an Asus 775-Dual VSTA and E6600 Conroe CPU to upgrade my PC. I bought this motherboard, because all my old parts straight port, so you could have a Core 2 Duo without spending a fortune. Everything went well, apart from my graphics card. I have a Asus X800XT PE AGP card, and everything is fine until you install the drivers for it. Once you install the drivers and rebooting, my computer hangs at the splash screen Windows XP and not go further. I have surfed the net and this problem is common with this board and X800 / X850 family of graphics cards. Has anyone had this problem and managed to solve? Thanks in advance Gary

This sounds like it could be a well known problem with ATI AGP cards do not (usually associated with chipsets Intel). Try setting your BIOS to AGP x 4. There was a problem with ATI AGP x 8 and in general a lot of motherboard. You may have to boot into "Safe Mode" to remove the "catalyst" first mate if I remember correctly.
