What is the silver hose in the back of a dryer call?
My mom and I were cleaning behind our washer and dryer, for the first time since we moved in. After pulling the hair of some discovered that searching large silver aluminum tube that goes from the wall for the dryer is completely in ruins. People who lived here before us used to lock your cat in the laundry and the hose has tons of small holes claws of cats and almost broke in two in one place. What is it called and how do I replace hose? Thank you!
It is a flexible dryer hose ventilation. Comes in 3 ", 4" sizes and available in different lengths (usually not by foot) and kits. Measure the diameter of the opening. If have a gas dryer, get only the aluminum hose. Either is fine for an electric dryer. When taking the former out (need a screwdriver plane of the head), one can see how to put a new one. It's easy. You just slip on the bracket, then slide the hose into the opening. Move the base around opening and tighten the screw. There should be instructions in the kit. Make sure the hose is not dragging on the floor or a J. I want to go as straight to air leakage as possible. Otherwise, it will collect lint and moisture. If it is too long, you can shorten it, but if too short, you should go buy one longer. Not good for record together because of the nature of the lint.
